Apart from the deluded idea that Syrians need a no-fly zone, it won't
work.
Remember when the Turkish jet infringed Syria's airspace? Shot down, apparently using ground artillery. But Syria has an up-to-date radar system, hypersonic missiles, and air force.
No-one is saying why those Israeli jets were not shot down, but it wasn't because Syria can't.
It was likely because they calculated this was a provocation, to escalate and bring in NATO.
The preoccupation America has with, 'how will we benefit/suffer'? gives away your problem: you're not asking, 'What did Washington think it was doing, arming and sending death squads in the first place? Any real friend of the Israeli people ( as opposed to the Bibi gang) knows that any other regime in Syria should Assad go, would be an imminent threat to Israel.
Yet the neocons in the Brookings Institution planned this nightmare in 2007. Obama inherited it, and the March 2011 'uprising' was on his watch. Now, he could, if he had the stones, pick up the phone and call it off.
But he won't.
